CelcomDigi brings 4G LTE to over 100 IOI plantation estates across Malaysia

CelcomDigi has announced that they’ve completed a large-scale network deployment across IOI Corporation’s plantation estates in Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia, delivering estate-wide high-speed 4G and 4G LTE connectivity to support IOI’s digital transformation efforts in the plantation industry.
According to CelcomDigi, more than 100 network sites have been deployed across over 100 IOI estates nationwide. In addition to mobile coverage, Direct Internet Access (DIA) has also been rolled out to estate offices located within the coverage areas, providing reliable fixed connectivity for operational use.
The enhanced connectivity enables IOI to digitalise and automate key plantation activities, including mill operations, mobile workforce applications, IoT-based fleet and asset management on top of future data-driven use cases. With consistent high-speed connectivity, IOI aims to progressively integrate intelligent systems to improve productivity, operational visibility, and workplace safety across its estates.
“For the plantation sector, we see that businesses with consistent, estate-wide connectivity achieve measurable improvements in operational efficiency and digital adoption. Early adopters report higher productivity and faster progress toward revenue goals, particularly through connected operations.
IOI now has the digital foundation to scale automation and intelligent systems across its plantations and mills. This is how we power the next phase of growth—building networks that deliver operational gains, support sustainable practices, and strengthen surrounding communities,” – Afizulazha Abdullah, CelcomDigi Chief Enterprise Business Officer
CelcomDigi stated that estate-wide connectivity is a critical foundation for modern agriculture, allowing organisations to integrate systems and data into scalable, efficient, and sustainable workflows. The telco added that beyond plantation operations, the expanded network coverage also benefits surrounding rural communities, improving access to digital services such as education, healthcare, and online connectivity.
