CelcomDigi announces Albern Murty as new Group CEO

CelcomDigi has announced that it has appointed Albern Murty as their new Chief Executive Office of the group. Albern had been serving as CelcomDigi’s acting CEO since September of last year, having taken the role on an interim basis after Datuk Idham Nawawi stepped down.
In a press release by the telco, Chair of the Board of Directors YM Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin bin Raja Abdul Aziz stated that the board of CelcomDigi is pleased to confirm the appointment of Albern as CEO. His full appointment comes following the conclusion of an extensive search process, with the board having considered both internal and external candidates to ensure they have the strongest possible leadership.
YM Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin bin Raja Abdul Aziz added that the board will be looking forward to working with him and the rest of the management team, as CelcomDigi looks to carry out their strategic goals, grow further as one of Malaysia’s leading telcos, strengthen corporate governance and to make CelcomDigi one of the best places to work in Malaysia.
Albern had been in the management team since the start of the merger between Celcom and Digi in November 2022, leading the line as Deputy CEO and then as acting CEO. He comes with over 22 years of leadership experience in the telecommunications industry, with seven of them as CEO of Digi. He previously also served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer in Digi, as well as Executive Vice President and Head of Emerging Asia for Telenor Asia.
Further changes at CelcomDigi
