Latest ‘Canva Sheets’ features built-in AI tools that make spreadsheets easier

By Timothy Teoh April 14, 2025

Frequent users of Excel and Google Sheets may like to consider Canva’s upcoming data-crunching software, Canva Sheets. By the looks of it, Canva Sheets functions similarly to conventional spreadsheet software. However, Canva promises a suite of AI features to enhance data crunching and visualization.

Magic Write

These include Magic Write, the built-in writing tool powered by OpenAI (a.k.a the parent company of ChatGPT), Magic Insights to analyze data and identify patterns, and Magic Charts which recommends the best chart to use in your presentation. Additionally, Magic Formulas allows users to type in mathematical questions in plain language and let AI work them out.

Magic Formula

For those wondering, Canva Sheets is able to connect to mainstream analytics apps, such as Google Analytics and HubSpot, and you can even import a wide range of formats, including CSVs, XLSX, and PDFs.

To enhance the collaborative experience, Canva Sheets does permit real-time collaboration with multiple members of the same team.

According to Canva, Canva Sheets will be rolled out in phases over the coming months. Basic functions are offered free to all users. However, AI-powered functions – like Magic Write, Magic Insights, and Magic Formulas, to name a few – will require credits, which are attainable when you sign up for Canva Pro, Canva Teams, or Canva Enterprise.
