By Raymond Saw January 16, 2026

Canon Malaysia has announced the expansion of its EOS Master Programme for 2026, introducing a new EOS Filmmaker category as part of its continued push towards video-driven and hybrid content creation.

Launched on earlier this week, the new programme now consists of 11 EOS Masters, 12 EOS Mentors, and 3 EOS Filmmakers, reinforcing Canon’s commitment to nurturing Malaysia’s photography and videography community through structured mentorship and professional knowledge sharing.

Originally launched in 2023, the EOS Master Programme has evolved alongside changing creative trends. For 2026, Canon says the addition of EOS Filmmaker reflects the growing importance of videography, cinematic storytelling, and video-first platforms, as more creators work across both stills and motion formats.

This year’s lineup brings together professionals from a wide range of specialisations, including astrophotography, commercial work, events, human interest, photojournalism, portraiture, travel, underwater, wildlife, and wedding photography, as well as video production. Participants are selected based on their creative excellence, industry experience, and contributions to Malaysia’s imaging community.

According to Canon, EOS Masters and EOS Filmmakers will play an active role throughout the year by leading workshops, talks, training sessions, and Canon-led initiatives, sharing real-world insights while showcasing how Canon’s imaging ecosystem supports both photography and video workflows.

“Canon’s EOS Master Programme reflects our long-term commitment to nurturing a strong and credible creative community in Malaysia. As creative expression continues to evolve, it is important that we evolve alongside our creators.

The introduction of EOS Filmmaker allows us to further support storytellers working across both photography and videography, while empowering them with the tools, knowledge, and platform to push creative boundaries,” – Masato Yoshiie, Canon Marketing Malaysia President and CEO

Canon also highlighted that the EOS Master Programme continues to be guided by its Kyosei philosophy, which emphasises collaboration and working together for the common good with the goal of building a future-ready creative community in Malaysia.

“Videography has become an essential part of visual storytelling today, and creators are increasingly working across multiple formats.

By introducing EOS Filmmaker within the EOS Master Programme, we are strengthening our support for video-focused professionals while continuing to provide meaningful learning experiences and practical insights through Canon’s EOS ecosystem.” – Edward Chang, Canon Marketing Malaysia Head of Image Communication Business Division
