BYD SEAL 6 EV Makes International Debut in Malaysia; 160kW Power, 0-100km/h in 7.5s, Priced from RM100K
BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, has officially launched the BYD SEAL 6 EV. This is a feather in the cap for the EV industry in the country, as this is the model’s first international debut, with Malaysia being the first country outside of China to launch the car.
It also marks BYD’s seventh car model made available in Malaysia, expanding the brand’s growing footprint in the country.
The SEAL 6 EV is a C-segment sedan that combines modern electric vehicle technology, premium interior comforts, and a sleek, streamlined aesthetic.
In terms of driving, the EV features a double ball-joint MacPherson strut and a rear multi-link suspension – the first ever in a BYD car. The SEAL 6 is Rear-wheel Drive (RWD), and BYD claims it is the largest C-segment in its class in Malaysia.
It is available in two offerings: a cost-friendlier Dynamic Variant and a high-tier Premium Variant. As the top-tier variant, the Premium boasts 160kW power, 330Nm torque, and is capable of reaching 100km/h from zero in just 7.5s. The Dynamic variant is less aggressive, with 90kW power, 220Nm torque, and reaches 0-100km/h in 10.9 seconds.
Regardless, both variants have 460L of rear luggage capacity and 65L capacity in their front compartment (or ‘frunk,’ as they call it).
The cars are available in three colours: Arctic White, Harbour Grey, and Misty Blue.
BYD SEAL 6 EV price in Malaysia
The BYD SEAL 6 EV in the Dynamic variant is priced at RM100,000 in Malaysia, while the Premium variant rises to RM115,000.
As part of BYD’s exclusive launch package, customers who purchase the Dynamic model are entitled to a free wall charger worth RM3,288.
Premium model buyers get the benefit of choosing between two entitlements, depending on whether they are landed or high-rise residents. Landed owners will get a free wall charger, along with an exclusive launch rebate of RM3,000.
High-rise residents, on the other hand, enjoy a RM1,000 launch rebate, together with the Sime Platinum 4+ package by Power Up for 12 months, which includes:
- 4x mobile doorstep charging
- 2x car handwash, vacuum, tire shine per month
- 2x free EV rescue service per year (for selected areas only)
