Bolt rides now come with full toll fare integration; The first ride-hailing service to do so

Ride-hailing app Bolt, which has been operating in Malaysia since November 2024, has integrated toll fares into the booking phases of the app. This allows passengers to view the total cost of the ride upfront, eliminating any hidden fees from toll fares.
For Bolt drivers, the company affirms that any toll charges are automatically calculated and incorporated into the fare, ensuring pricing transparency on both ends of the chain.

Prior to this update, toll charges were typically added at the end of the trip, after the total toll fares were calculated. According to Bolt, around 30% of rides in Malaysia pass through at least one toll, which is why the company felt the need to address the pain point. There are nearly 200 tolls operating nationwide.
Afzan Lutfi, the General Manager of Bolt Malaysia, stated in a press release, “We know that tolls are an essential part of the driving experience here, and by automating the process, we eliminate unnecessary guesswork for both partner drivers and passengers. At Bolt, we believe that greater transparency leads to better experiences and this feature is part of our wider commitment to making urban mobility more reliable, fair, and convenient for everyone.“
Meanwhile, the ride-hailing also announced upcoming further enhancements for drivers, including improved pick-up distance management and streamlined access to driver earnings.
