Bolt’s New Family Profile Lets You Book and Pay for Rides for Up to Nine People

Bolt has rolled out a new Family Profile feature in Malaysia, making it easier for one person to manage and pay for rides on behalf of others—all from a single account. You can add up to nine people to your Family Profile, and while each person still needs their own Bolt account and must be at least 18 years old, the main account holder stays in control of the payments and ride activity.
According to Bolt, around 2% to 6% of rides in Malaysia are already being booked for someone else. This new feature is meant to streamline that experience. Once you’ve set up your Family Profile, you can see when rides start and end, track the trip live, and even contact the rider if needed. Meanwhile, your family members or friends can request rides on their own, but you’ll still have full visibility over what’s going on.
It’s designed to be especially useful for parents managing transport for their kids (18 and older), caregivers helping out relatives, or anyone supporting someone who’s less comfortable with e-hailing. You can find the new feature by opening the Bolt app, tapping the Account tab at the bottom right, and selecting Family Profile—it’s right near the top of the list.
