ASUS unveils updated Zenbook lineup for 2024 with prices starting from RM4,499

January 19, 2024

ASUS’ Transcend Beyond grand launch saw the unveiling of the refreshed Zenbook lineup that’s set to hit Malaysian markets in 2024. The new additions includes the Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405), Zenbook S 13 OLED (UX5304M), and the dual screen Zenbook DUO (UX8406).

The updates see all the new Zenbook models get Intel Core Ultra processors, which are essentially AI-powered chips. Even though AI technology is still largely in its development stage, ASUS says it will be ready for when AI integration eventually becomes more common.

Some models have already hit the shelves, while others will arrive no later than the second quarter of this year. Here’s the breakdown of the updated Zenbooks.

ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405)

The Zenbook 14 OLED gets spruced up with Intel Core Ultra processors paired with Intel Arc graphics. There’ll be two variants: one with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD, and the other powered by Intel Core Ultra 5 125H processor with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD.

Displays are 14″ 3K (2880x1800p) with a 16:10 aspect ratio, moving away from the conventional 16:9 you mostly see on laptops. It dons ASUS’ Lumina OLED displays, with 120Hz maximum refresh rates.

The Zenbook 14 OLED packs a 75Wh battery, which should give up to 15 hours of unplugged operation; this will of course depend on how heavy your usage is. Other than that, the laptop has a FHD IR camera with built-on shutters as well as a Face Login option. Speakers are Harman Kardon-certified, enhanced further with Dolby Atmos.

Zero-ing down to connectivity, the Zenbook 14 supports up to WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. As for I/O ports, you’ll have 2x Thunderbolt 4 Type-C, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1x HDMI 2.1, and 1x 3.5mm audio jack.

The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405) is available today at authorized resellers, with official pricing as follows:

  • Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405) w/ Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, 32GB RAM + 1TB SSD – RM5,999
  • Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405) w/ Intel Core Ultra 5 125H, 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD – RM4,499

As for now, the only colour available is Ponder Blue. However, we can expect an additional Foggy Silver variant to launch at a later date.

ASUS Zenbook DUO (UX8406)

Moving on to the dual screen ASUS Zenbook DUO (UX8406), this will come with two variants sporting different Intel processors. You’ll be able to choose between the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, or the range-topping Intel Core Ultra 9 185H. Either choices will be paired with Intel Arc graphics, and will come with 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB SSD.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Zenbook DUO and wondering how it piles on two displays, it converts the keyboard area on conventional laptops to a second display. You may either use the second display as a virtual keyboard, or have more screen real estate by using it as your second screen together with the detachable Bluetooth keyboard.

It’s connected by a 180° lay-flat hinge, so you’ll be able to flatten it to reveal a massive 19.8″ display.

There are essentially four modes in how you can maximize the Zenbook DUO: Laptop mode, Dual Screen mode, Desktop mode, and Sharing mode.

Both screens are 14″ 3K ASUS Lumina OLED displays, again in a 16:10 format. They are of course Dolby Vision certified, DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified, and Panton Validated. It also has 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and is touchscreen.

Speakers are Harman Kardon-certified and enhanced by Dolby Atmos.

The I/O ports available includes 2x Thunderbolt™ 4 Type-C, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1x HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

As of writing, the ASUS Zenbook DUO with Intel Core Ultra 7 processor is slated to arrive in Malaysia on 19th February with an RM9,999 price tag. Early birds will receive an ASUS VivoWatch 5 worth RM1,288, only until stocks last.

For the top-tier variant with Intel Core Ultra 9, ASUS confirms that it will eventually hit our shores, though an exact date was not given.

ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED (UX5304M)

Alongside these, ASUS also announced its refreshed ultraportable model, the Zenbook S 13 OLED (UX5304M) keeps to its super sleek 1cm profile and 1kg weight.

Displays are pretty much the same as last year’s UX5304 model, sporting a 13.3″ ASUS Lumina OLED 16:10 screen with 3K resolution. To vouch for its visual quality, displays are Dolby Vision certified and Pantone Validated; as well as receiving DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.

This year’s Zenbook S 13 OLED will be powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 155U, with Intel Iris Xe graphics to boot. It will come in a single 32GB LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB SSD configuration.

You’ll have a FHD IR camera with AI visual enhancements, as well as AI noise-cancellation technology. There’s also a Face Login feature for an added choice of security. Speakers are once again Harman Kardon-certified, with multidimensional Dolby Atmos sound.

The Zenbook S 13 OLED supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. When it comes to I/O ports, it will have 2x Thunderbolt 4 Type-C, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, 1x HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Zenbook S13 OLED (UX5304M) has not arrived in Malaysia just yet. The expected date of its arrival is 19th February, and it will be priced at RM6,499.
