ROG’s New Xbox Ally Gaming Handhelds Marry the Best of Xbox and PC Gaming

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has unveiled two new gaming handhelds – the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X – developed in partnership with Xbox. The new lineup features a redesigned chassis that includes an updated palm rest and new surface textures, which ASUS claims offer a more comfortable grip during extended gaming sessions.
Both models are powered by AMD’s latest generation of processors. The ROG Xbox Ally is equipped with the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, while the ROG Xbox Ally X features the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor. These chips are designed to support AMD’s newest software enhancements, including FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), and AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF). These technologies aim to improve visual quality and frame rates across a variety of game titles.

The ROG Xbox Ally X also introduces impulse triggers, which are intended to improve haptic feedback in supported games, offering a more tactile gaming experience. Other specifications such as RAM, display, battery life, and storage were not disclosed at the time of announcement.

ASUS has confirmed that the ROG Xbox Ally series will begin launching during the 2025 holiday season in selected regions. Confirmed markets include Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Thailand. Malaysia was not mentioned specifically, but ASUS has stated that availability will follow in other markets where current ROG Ally products are already being sold. Pricing and launch promotions have not yet been announced.
