ASUS Malaysia unveils Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered ROG Phone 9 Series
ASUS Malaysia has unveiled the new line or ROG Phones in the country. As previously reported, the ROG Phone 9 Series, which consists of the ROG Phone 9, Phone 9 Pro, and Phone 9 Pro Edition, are all powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
Like the ROG series of the past, each model comes with only a single memory and storage configuration. The standard ROG 9 receives 12GB RAM/256GB storage, the ROG 9 Pro gets a larger 16GB/512GB configuration, while the range-topping ROG 9 Pro Edition comes with a whopping 24GB/1TB configuration.
There are notably a few design upgrades, mainly around the AniMe Vision mini-LEDs. Firstly, the Pro variants now come with 648 programmable LEDs, nearly doubled from the 341 dots on the ROG 8 Pro. Additionally, the base variant also gets the AniMe Vision treatment for the first time, albeit much subdued with only 85 dots.
Displays are maintained across all models. The ROG 9 Series sports a 6.78″ AMOLED display offering Full HD+ (2400×1080) resolution, 2,500nits peak brightness, and up to 185Hz refresh rates. Moreover, the shoulder triggers, known as AirTriggers, are still present on the landscape side of the phone.
Leading the camera array in the series is a 50MP 1/1.56″ Sony LYTIA main camera as well as a 13MP ultra-wide lens. What separates the Pro models from the base model is the 32MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The base model, on the other hand, makes do with a 5MP macro lens.
A welcome upgrade is the 5,800mAh battery capacity, improved from the 5,500mAh capacity found on its predecessor. You’ll still also get the 65W wired charging, along with 15W Qi wireless charging.
Apart from the phone itself, ASUS has also released a new clip-on AeroActive Cooler X Pro. The external coolers can be connected via the USB-C port at the side of the phone, and they come integrated with a subwoofer.
ROG Phone 9 series price in Malaysia
The ASUS ROG Phone 9 Series is now available for purchase in Malaysia at all authorized ASUS mobile resellers, as well as telco partners Maxis and CelcomDigi. Here are the official prices in Malaysia:
- ROG Phone 9 (12GB+256GB), Storm White or Phantom Black – RM3,999
- ROG Phone 9 Pro (16GB+512GB), Phantom Black – RM4,999
- ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition (24GB+1TB), Phantom Black – RM5,999
Of the three, only the ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition comes with the AeroActive Cooler X Pro out of the box.
However, there is a launch promo running from 10 December to 31 December 2024. During this period, the ROG Phone 9 and Phone 9 Pro will come bundled with the AeroActive Cooler X, ROG Phone 9 Chill Case, and a 1-year extended warranty.
The ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition, on the other hand, will come with a limited edition ROG Phone Crossbody Strap and a 1-year extended warranty.
The launch promo is available at all authorized ASUS mobile resellers, except Maxis and CelcomDigi.
