Just like the ROG lineup of yesteryear, the two variants in the ROG Phone 7 series are mainly differentiated by its aesthetics.

While the ASUS ROG Phone 7 rear panel will feature the RGB ROG Fearless Eye dot-matrix logo, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate will have the more interactive ROG Vision Matrix display. This mini 2″ OLED display on the Ultimate will trigger different elements based on system events, such as charging status, incoming calls, and even personalized animations.

In addition to that, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate will include a portal for optimized cooling with the AeroActive Cooler.

With colour choices, you’ll have the option of Phantom Black or Storm White on the ASUS ROG Phone 7; but only Storm White on the ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate.

New AeroActive Cooler 7

You’ll find upgrades all throughout the ASUS ROG Phone 7 Series, but perhaps the most significant is the AeroActive Cooler 7. If you’re new to the ROG series, AeroActive coolers are an external device which can be clipped on to your ROG Phone for optimized thermal management.

Up until the AeroActive Cooler 6, it was only a cooling device. Now with the AeroActive Cooler 7, it doubles down as a subwoofer which ASUS claims will improve bass performance by up to 77%.

This is connected via two pogo pins located next to the Type-C port.

It may influence your decision to know that the AeroActive Cooler 7 comes in the box when you purchase the ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. Otherwise, you’ll have to buy it separately.

Other than that, ASUS also makes improvements across the board. The ROG Phone 7 Series now features Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. For memory, you’ll have up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.

Visuals continues to impress with a 6.78″ FHD+ display with a staggering 165Hz refresh rate and 720Hz touch sampling rate. The ROG Phone 7 series will also see an improved 1,500nits peak brightness.

It also features the improved GameCool 7 thermal system to keep temperatures under control.

Batteries are pretty much the same as last year’s ROG Phone 6 Series. You’ll still have a 6,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging. Though unchanged, it’s proven to do just fine during long-haul gaming sessions.

ASUS has also brought forward the host of gaming features unique to the ROG series, including AirTrigger and X-Haptics.

Cameras usually don’t share the spotlight too much on a gaming phone. Nevertheless, the 50MP main camera and 13MP wide-angle combo are pretty decent. The same can be said for the 32MP front camera.

Other notable mentions on the ROG Phone 7 Series is the twin front-firing speakers and the 3.5mm audio jack. It also has WiFi 7 support, Bluetooth 5.3, and it is IP54 dust and water resistant.

While all the attention is on the ASUS ROG Phone 7, don’t forget that the ROG Phone 6 still holds its weight in gold! Visit PriceShop to find your next gadget at the best price in Malaysia!
