ASUS ROG Ally debuts in Malaysia at RM3,299; first sale bundle starts today
After a month of anticipation and hype, ASUS Malaysia have finally revealed the pricing and availability details for the ROG Ally.
The ROG Ally had a global introduction in mid-May this year, with pricing only available in USD. There are two variants of the ROG Ally; a base model which utilizes an AMD Ryzen Z1 processor, and a flagship model with the more powerful AMD Z1 Extreme processor.
ROG Ally Pricing in Malaysia
Only one version of the ROG Ally will launch in Malaysia, with it being the higher end ROG Ally with AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
The ROG Ally Z1 Extreme is priced at RM3,299, and is now available for pre-order on the ASUS eStore. First sale bundle starts today, where the first 100 buyers will be entitled to an exclusive bundle worth RM1,299.
The bundle includes a ROG Cetra True Wireless gaming earphones, a ROG Ally Travel Case, a ROG gaming charging dock, a screen protector, and an additional 9 months of PC Game Pass.
There is also a purchase-with-purchase deal, where the XG Mobile will be available at RM2,000 for ROG Ally online buyers.
If you wish to purchase the ROG Ally offline, you will have to wait until 1st July.
ROG Ally specs
To give you a brief spec recap, the ROG Ally will come with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of storage. Don’t worry, storage is expandable via a microSD card if you have an overflowing catalogue of games.
On its shoulders are the bumpers and triggers, as you would expect. But the ROG Ally grants further control with two additional pedals located at the rear which you can map to suit your preference.
Other than that, the console has the standard A/B/X/Y and directional buttons alongside the left and right joysticks.
For visuals, the ROG Ally keeps to a 7-inch Full HD (1080p) display delivering up to 60fps and capable of 120Hz refresh rates, with brightness as high as 500nits. All this is protected under a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus.
There’s also two upward-facing Dolby Atmos speakers right by the display.
What makes the ROG Ally unique is the inclusion of a XG mobile port, which can be hooked up to an external GPU for enhanced graphics. Take note that the port is only compatible with selected eGPUs. For now, you can only connect the ROG Ally to the GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU, and an AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT GPU.
These GPUs are not included in the box.
On paper, the ASUS ROG Ally is the closest rival Valve’s Steam Deck, which was released last year. However, unlike the ROG Ally, the Steam Deck was never officially released in Malaysia.
As it stands, it seems that the ROG Ally will have a free run at capturing the gaming handheld market in Malaysia.
But as with all things, only time will tell.
