Apple TV app is now available on Android phones and tablets

By Timothy Teoh February 19, 2025

In case you missed it, Android users can now download the Apple TV app on their mobile devices, including phones, tablets, and foldables. The app rollout began last week, and is already available on the Google Play Store.

Previously, Android users could access the Apple TV app – but only via Android TVs. This expansion now allows Android users to stream Apple’s catalogue of original series and films on Apple TV+ directly from their mobile devices.

On that note, Android users will be able to use their Google Play accounts to subscribe to Apple TV+. If you’re on the fence about subscribing, you can always utilize the seven-day free trial. If you decide to keep the streaming service, you’ll need to commit to RM29.90/month.

The Apple TV app isn’t the first Apple-made app available on Android. Apple’s music streaming service, aptly named Apple Music, is also listed on Google Play, alongside Apple Music Classical, Beats, and the Move to iOS data transfer app.

MAE app will be unusable for iPhones running iOS 13 and below starting 31 March

By Timothy Teoh February 17, 2025

Maybank has announced that the MAE app will cease support for iPhones running on iOS 13 and below starting 31 March 2025. From that date onward, only iPhones running on iOS 14 or later will be able to use the MAE app.

According to Maybank, this is part of the bank’s effort to keep the online banking experience secure. As such, the bank is urging iOS users to update their operating system as soon as possible in order to continue using its services.

iOS users who fail to update before the deadline will no longer be able to use the MAE app.

For iPhone users whose devices are not eligible for iOS 14, Maybank advises downloading the MAE app on a compatible mobile device that meets the required operating system. However, do note that installing MAE app on a new device will require re-activating Secure2u at any Maybank ATM. This is followed by a 12-hour cooling period before you can perform any transactions.

Maybank also reminds users that while they will still be able to log in to Maybank2u via a device browser, they will not be able to perform transactions since the Secure2u authenticator is tied to the MAE app.

For more information regarding this, visit Maybank’s official announcement page.
