Apple to Cut iPhone Air Production by 1 Million Units Amid Weak Sales

Reports coming from international sources suggest that Apple may cut the production of the iPhone Air due to underwhelming sales. The source of this news is Mizuho Securities – an investment banking and securities firm based in Japan – and it was reported by the Korean publication The Elec.
Not all is gloom and doom for Apple, though, as the Japanese firm also claims that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are flourishing and are already outselling their predecessors during the same period. Moreover, even sales of the iPhone 17 are performing better than those of the iPhone 16.

In this regard, only the iPhone Air appears to be the weakest link, having failed to reach the heights it had anticipated – so much so that Apple is purportedly planning to cut its production by a million units, while increasing production of the other models by two million.
It was only days ago that news broke about Samsung reportedly scrapping the Edge line-up completely due to lacklustre sales. That means the Galaxy S26 Edge, which was expected to launch next year, is a no-go.

That being said, in this case, Apple doesn’t seem to have any plans to discontinue the iPhone Air line. While they may resort to cutting production, notable Apple leakster ShrimpApplePro believes that the next-generation Air is still in the works and will be part of next year’s line-up.

It’s reducing the production by only 1 million in 2025, but the predictions for 2026 is still coming pretty strong for the air and the rest
While that being said, the initial sale is still miles better than the sale of the S25 edge https://t.co/xgokHkkQOd
