Apple Prepares Design Overhaul with New ‘Solarium’ UI

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is slated for June 9 (June 10, 1 AM Malaysia Time), and one of the key highlights expected is a UI overhaul.
According to Bloomberg, Apple will unveil a new user interface codenamed Solarium. It is allegedly inspired by the translucent glow emitted in a glasshouse or sunroom, which perhaps means we can expect a brighter theme. Additionally, reports suggest that Apple will take a few design cues from visionOS, the operating system for its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset.
It seems Apple is aiming for a more cohesive design language across its major platforms, as Solarium will likely be integrated not just into iOS, but also iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS.
There will be more to WWDC than just a design overhaul, of course. Apple is also expected to highlight key updates related to Apple Intelligence, the tech giant’s artificial intelligence system, which has been facing criticism of late.
