Apple Confirms Power Issue in Some Mac mini (2023) Units—Here’s What to Do

By PriceShop News June 16, 2025

If you bought a Mac mini (2023) and it suddenly won’t turn on, you’re not alone. Apple has confirmed that a small number of Mac mini units with the M2 chip—sold between 16 June and 23 November 2024—might face a power issue that stops them from working altogether.

In a statement shared on its Malaysian support page, Apple said:

“Apple has determined that a very small percentage of Mac mini (2023) devices with the M2 chip may no longer power on. Affected devices were manufactured between June 16, 2024 to November 23, 2024.”

To help out, Apple is now offering free repairs for affected units. All you need to do is head over to Apple’s website and use the Serial Number checker to see if your Mac mini is eligible. If it is, you can take it to Apple or any authorised service provider in Malaysia for a free fix.

You’ll need your Mac mini’s serial number to check, and if you’re not sure where to find it, Apple has a quick guide on that too.

It’s worth noting that this service program won’t extend your Mac’s warranty, but it will cover eligible devices for up to three years from the date you bought it.
