Apple likely to delay AI-powered Siri upgrades

As reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Siri upgrades that were introduced by Apple in June last year will be delayed.
For context, in Apple’s 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the tech giants showcased an advanced version of its Siri digital assistant that promised greater personalized enhancements and broader control over multiple apps. This included the ability to tap into your device to provide contextually accurate answers to queries.
However, according to reports, Apple is struggling to deliver what it promised, with the Siri upgrades now delayed indefinitely. It’s worth mentioning that Apple never set a public deadline in the first place, but it was slated for the iOS 18.4 software update this April.
According to Gurman’s report, the Siri upgrades were lagging behind in development, to the point “software chief Craig Federighi and other executives voiced strong concerns internally that the features didn’t work properly – or as advertised – in their personal testing.”
Sources close to Gurman now believe that the upgraded Siri will only roll out next year, at the earliest.
