Apple iPhone 20 Rumored to Have No Physical Buttons and a Major Redesign

By Aiman Maulana October 30, 2025

New leaks suggest that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 20 series, expected to launch in 2027, could mark one of the biggest design overhauls in iPhone history. The release will coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first iPhone, making it a landmark moment for Apple fans and the tech industry alike.

iPhone 20 May Ditch All Physical Buttons

According to recent reports from China, specifically Weibo, Apple plans to eliminate all physical buttons on the iPhone 20 lineup, replacing them entirely with solid-state capacitive buttons. This change would mean users will no longer find traditional volume or power keys on the device.

Instead, the new capacitive buttons are expected to feature localized vibration feedback, simulating the feel of pressing a real button. This approach mirrors Apple’s Taptic Engine technology used in the iPhone’s home button and trackpads, offering a more seamless and durable design.

While similar rumors surfaced before previous iPhone releases, including the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16, they never materialized. However, industry insiders claim that Apple is finally ready to introduce buttonless iPhones as part of its next-generation hardware evolution.

The iPhone 20 series is also rumored to feature an all-new camera sensor technology, delivering improved low-light performance and color accuracy. Apple is reportedly preparing a major aesthetic redesign to mark the 20th anniversary, potentially introducing a new chassis material or a more futuristic form factor.

This redesign could symbolize Apple’s next step toward fully immersive and minimalistic smartphone design, aligning with its long-term vision of merging hardware and software into a seamless experience.

What to Expect from Apple’s 2027 iPhone Launch

While it’s still early, analysts believe that the iPhone 20 lineup could represent Apple’s most advanced iPhones yet, integrating new AI-driven photography, enhanced display technology, and possibly faster on-device neural processing.

As the release date approaches, more details are expected to surface, revealing how Apple plans to celebrate two decades of iPhone innovation with a bold step into the future.
