Anwar Announces RM100 Cash Aid for All Malaysians Aged 18 and Above, Distributed via MyKad

In a special live announcement today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim revealed that all Malaysians aged 18 and above will receive a one-off cash aid of RM100 under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme in conjunction with Merdeka (National Day).
The aid will be distributed through citizens’ MyKads from 31 August 2025, allowing them to purchase essential goods at over 4,100 retail stores nationwide, including prominent outlets such as Mydin, Lotus’s, Econsave, and 99 Speedmart. Citizens will have until 31 December 2025 to utilize the funds.

Anwar clarified that the aid will be provided per individual and not per household. This means that if a household consists of five members aged 18 and above, each individual will receive RM100. This is the first time in the nation’s history that a cash aid initiative is targeted to all adult citizens, regardless of income classification.
Should users choose not to utilize the cash aid, Anwar stated that the government will allocate the unused funds to assistance programs for vulnerable groups next year.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister also declared 15 September 2025 (Monday) as an additional holiday in conjunction with Malaysia Day, which falls the following day, 16 September.
