AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 pricing spotted, could cost around RM4,000

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 isn’t slated to be available till at least 22 April, but it seems that some retailers across the pond have already listed it online. It seems that Team Red’s ultra premium flagship CPU will be pretty expensive, with retailers listing it at close to RM4,000.
As spotted by Tom’s Hardware, a couple of Canadian retailers have listed the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 already. PC Canada has it down at CAD1,373.99 (~RM3,979.02), while ShopBRC has it priced at CAD1,375 (~RM3,981.91). Based on this, it seems that by the time the Ryzen 9 9550X3D2 hits local shelves, there’s a chance it will be priced around or well over the RM4,000 mark.

With that being said, AMD themselves have not actually announced the recommended retail pricing of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. If we’re going by past precedent, AMD typically prices a premium CPU around USD100 or USD200 more than the CPU one tier below, which in this case is the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. That comes with a USD699 MSRP in the west, but in Malaysia it usually can be found for RM3,499.

In case you missed it, what makes the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 so pricey is the massive amount of cache it has. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 has 208MB of cache split between 16MB L2 and 192MB L3 cache. The processor itself is similar to the regular Ryzen 9 9950X3D, with 16 Zen5 X3D cores and 32 threads running at 4.3GHz base and 5.6GHz boost speeds. AMD claims performance gains between 5% to 13% in content creation, rendering, AI, simulation and compilation workloads, angling the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 as the best CPU for gaming and productivity.
You’ll still want to wait for complete local pricing and availability information from AMD Malaysia of course, but it’s a good idea to start saving up anyway if you’re keen on the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 yourself.
