AMD-powered ASUS Zephyrus G16 and TUF Gaming A14 now up for pre-orders
On the same day they announced the revamped ROG Ally X in Malaysia, ASUS has also rolled the curtains back on two new AMD-powered AI laptops: the ROG Zephyrus G16 and the TUF Gaming A14.
Both laptops are now available for pre-orders, with early bird promos running from 17 – 31 July 2024.
ROG Zephyrus G16
The ROG Zephyrus G16 is the latest addition to ASUS’ growing catalogue of AI PCs. However, unlike the freshly launched Vivobook S 15 and Zenbook S 16, the Zephyrus primarily caters to gaming.
This particular model is powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 AI HX 370 processor, which, typical of AI laptops, comes built-in with an NPU. In this case, it tags along a Ryzen XDNA 2 NPU capable of 50 tera operations per second (TOPS).
Paired up with this processor is a choice of either an RTX 4070 GPU or an RTX 4060 GPU. The former will get you 32GB RAM and 2TB storage, while the latter 32GB RAM but with only 1TB storage.
The Zephyrus G16 sports a 16″ OLED panel offering 2.5K (2560×1600) resolution covering 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. It also boast high refresh rates of up to 240Hz.
There’s plenty of ports to work with on the Zephyrus. These include a USB4 port, a USB Type-C port, two USB Type-A ports, one HDMI2.1 port, and an SD card reader.
Additionally, this is also the first ROG laptop to support the latest Wi-Fi 7.
As for pricing, the Zephyrus G16 with RTX 4070 GPU and 32GB/2TB configuration retails at RM13,499. While the model with RTX 4060 GPU and 32GB/1TB configuration cost lesser at RM11,499.

ASUS TUF Gaming A14
Alongside the Zephyrus is ASUS’ first 14-inch laptop in the TUF gaming lineup, the TUF Gaming A14.
Similar to the Zephyrus, the TUF Gaming A14 is powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 AI HX 370 processor. This is paired up with an RTX 4060 GPU and a single memory configuration of 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB SSD.
It sports a 14-inch panel with 2.5K (2560×1600) resolution and 165Hz refresh rates.
You’ll find an array of ports here, including a USB4 port, a USB Type-C port, two USB Type-A port, a HDMI2.1 port, and a MicroSD card reader. As for connectivity, it supports up to Wi-Fi 6E.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 is the more affordable option with a retail price of RM7,599. This too has pre-order promos running from 17-31 July, where early purchases will be entitled to an ASUS TUF Gaming Monitor (VG249Q3A) monitor worth RM755.
