Import fees & duties to Malaysia when shopping on Amazon.com

Currently Amazon applies the standard threshold of RM 500 (including shipping costs if any) before import fees will be charged on the order according to this page.

It will be estimated and calculated and paid for upon check out to ensure smooth passage through customs.

  • If actual import fees paid to customs is more than the estimated fee upon checkout, Amazon will not charge you extra.
  • If actual import fees paid to customs is lesser, it will refund the difference to automatically and get notification via email.

When it comes to duties– it will be up to the customs to determine the product category and apply the prevailing rate accordingly. This will likely be borne by the customer upon importation and checking at the customs. (DHL guide included at the end of the article)

Let’s take a look at some examples:

Pixel 6 Pro 8+128GB – RM 3,611 (free delivery, and import fees of RM238 included)

*Note: Duties may be calculated separately upon customs import and also locals need to apply for SIRIM Special Approval & Clearance Letter (SACL) at https://ecomm.sirim.my/
