It seems that despite a very busy March, Apple hasn’t stopped announcing new products just yet. Cupertino just dropped the brand new AirPods Max 2, with a newer processor under the hood and new features for users.

Available in orange, purple, blue, midnight and starlight colour options, the AirPods Max 2 looks pretty much identical to the outgoing model. In fact, it still has the same look, build, smart case and 20 hours of ANC battery life as the previous AirPods Max. The main upgrade to the hardware here is the new H2 chip in each earcup.

By switching over to H2, the AirPods Max 2 now deliver ANC that Cupertino claims is 1.5 times more effective than the previous generation. Transparency mode has also been improved to sound more natural, while a new high dynamic range amplifier delivers cleaner audio. You’ll also now get features from other H2-powered AirPods on these new overears, such as Adaptive Audio, only needing to call out ‘Siri’ for the voice assistant, Voice Isolation, Conversation Awareness, Camera Remote with the Digital Crown and Personalised Volume.

The AirPods Max 2 are currently listed as ‘coming soon’ to Malaysia, and is priced at RM2,299. While that’s still a hefty amount for a pair of headphones, it’s actually now cheaper than the AirPods Max with USB-C it replaces which was priced at RM2,499, and indeed is cheaper than the original AirPods Max with Lightning that retailed for RM2,399.
