Acer today has expanded the TravelMate laptop series in Malaysia with an impetus towards sustainability.
In an effort to reduce the brand’s carbon footprint, the TravelMate series of this year will incorporate Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastics. In addition to that, it will also be packaged in plastic-free and recyclable materials.
Moreover, all three models will feature Acer’s new Dust Defender, which is a built-in cleaning system that automatically cleans the laptop’s thermal components after 6 hours of use.
The TravelMate series comes in three models: TravelMate P2, P4, and P6, each of which can be broken down further into more variants.
The TravelMate P2 comes in two variants, the TravelMate P214 and TravelMate P216.
Essentially what separates them is the screen size, with the P214 sporting a 14″, and the P216 a 16″. Displays on both models are WUXGA (1920 x 1200px) with an IPS panel.
They will each come with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, Windows 11 Pro, and a microSD card reader.
With the P214, you’ll have two configurations to choose from:
The P216 on the other hand only has one variant powered by an i5-1335U processor, with Intel Iris Xe Graphics. You’ll have 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD. The TravelMate P216 is priced at RM3,899.
The TravelMate P4 is divided into two variants; the P414 and the Spin P414.
They are powered by an i5-1335U processor, with Intel Iris Xe for graphics and 512GB of SSD storage. Both variants will come with Windows 11 Pro and a microSD card reader.
Displays on both models are 14″ WUXGA (1920 x 1200px) IPS panels.
The TravelMate Spin P414 is the more versatile option as it has a flappable 360° hinge which allows you to flip the screen all the way back and turn it into a tablet. By virtue of this, the Spin P414 is equipped with a touchscreen display and also supports AES stylus pen.
You can purchase the TravelMate Spin P414 (16GB/512GB) at RM5,699 in Malaysia.
In contrast, the non-touchscreen TravelMate P414 (8GB/512GB) is cheaper at RM4,559.
The TravelMate P6 is the premium lineup of the series. As all premium things go, it also comes with a steeper price tag.
The P6 utilizes the Intel i7-1355U processor. The Intel Iris Xe makes yet another appearance here, together with the Windows 11 Pro.
You’ll have 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, coupled with a sizable 1TB of storage. This is the only model so far in the 2023 TravelMate series to utilize the speedier LPDDR5 RAM.
There are two variants in the TravelMate P6 to choose from, with the point of difference being the type of display panel you prefer.
The TravelMate P6 with 14″ WUXGA (1920 x 1200px) touch screen IPS panel is the slightly cheaper option at RM6,799.
The most premium TravelMate P6 option, which comes with a 14″ OLED WQXGA+ display, is priced at RM6,899.
